Recording and Instrumentation:

This recording started out with just a track of acoustic guitar, then a track of vocals on top of that. I think I did both of those tracks in one take, and I was thinking of leaving the recording just like that. But then I decided that that was a bad idea so I added some bass keyboard and organ for the choruses as well as some of the back up vocals. I decided it was still a bit thin though, so I decided to add the keyboard drums. I am not really satisied with them seeing as the beat is insanely boring and the fills are either nonexistent or really dopey, but I decided it wasn't worth spicing them up. I probably would have added a tambourine, but I unfortunately left mine in New Haven.
Though I did decide to experiment some with GarageBand on this recording. I managed to turn my acoustic guitar into a powerful electric sound with a GarageBand effect, as well as give my voice a nice echo to it and make the drums a bit edgier. Overall, I think it gave this recording a much better sound than some of the stuff I've done.

Song History:

The song was originally recorded in 1982 by Toni Basil. I learned it because I had been in the library studying for some final with it running through my head the entire time. I discovered that it is actually a lot of fun to play on an acoustic guitar. I had also considered changing the gender of the song, so that I would be like, "It's girls like you Niki!" or something like that. But then I decided that the original lyrics were good enough for me, even if they do make me sound gay.
